The Dallas-Fort Worth area got a brief break from unbearably hot conditions Sunday, but the National Weather Service in Fort Worth is projecting highs above 100 degrees for the remainder of the week.
Multiple parts of North Texas, including Dallas, Tarrant, and Parker counties, were put under a excessive heat warning through 9 p.m. Tuesday, the NWS Fort Worth website showed.

Highs on Monday are projected to hit 103 degrees in Dallas with the heat index estimated to be 109, according to NWS Fort Worth’s weekly forecast. Highs will remain above triple-digit levels for the rest of the week, the forecast showed.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is predicting record demand, with more than 84,000-85,000 megawatts expected each of the next three days. ERCOT issued a “weather watch,” which encourages energy conservation during potential high-usage times, but says it has the capacity for the demand.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality issued an air quality alert for D-FW on Monday. The alert signifies that “atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone air pollution” in the area.
The TCEQ’s resulting “ozone action day” Monday for Dallas-Fort Worth asks that residents try to reduce possible ozone pollution.
