The State Fair of Texas wrapped up its 24-day run Sunday, welcoming 2.5 million visitors to Fair Park this year.

Fairgoers celebrated Big Tex’s 70th birthday, devoured fried charcuterie boards and took a spin on the iconic Ferris wheel.

More than 20,000 first responders and 55,000 members of the military and their families attended the fair with special discount tickets.

Big Tex celebrated his birthday with a 9-by 4-foot birthday cake from Kroger. Fairgoers also remembered the 10th anniversary of the fire that destroyed the original Big Tex.

A whopping 583,000 Fletcher’s Corny Dogs were sold.

Mundo Latino’s Día de los Muertos exhibit featured a total of 25 altars, honoring the memories of loved ones.

The fair’s Mighty Mike broke a Guinness World Record by juggling three 10-pound bowling balls for 20 seconds.

Fair animals consumed more than 24,000 pounds of hay during the fair’s 24-day run, and the fair hosted more than 16,000 livestock entries.

The Livestock Birthing Barn celebrated 60 animal births.

The Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction raised a record-breaking $1.9 million for youth livestock exhibitors.

More than 90,000 pounds of pure cane sugar were used to make State Fair Cotton Candy and 12.7 million kernels of popcorn were popped at the Pioneer Kettle Korn stand.

Some 40 dogs found homes through the DFW Rescue Me booth.

Following a pandemic-related absence, the Big Tex BBQ & Chili Challenge returned to Fair Park with 84 chili cooks.

The Texas Auto Show featured 11 electric vehicles in addition to its usual lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs.

More than 166,000 rides were taken on the Texas Star Ferris wheel.

And more than 146,000 fans attended the State Fair Classic and the AT&T Red River Showdown at the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium.
