Jalen Bridges announces return to Baylor after withdrawing from NBA draft

Bridges was reportedly considering playing Australia before choosing to rejoin Scott Drew’s team.

Jalen Bridges will continue his collegiate career in Waco.

The forward took to Twitter to announce that he was returning to Baylor on Wednesday night. Bridges was testing the NBA draft waters, but ultimately withdrew from the process late last month.

According to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, Bridges was considering playing in Australia before deciding to rejoin Scott Drew’s team. His announcement was simple, featuring the player sitting in front of a yellow background under a short quote that read: “I’m back.”

Bridges started 34 games for Baylor during the 2022-23 campaign, joining the program after transferring from West Virginia. He was Baylor’s fourth-leading scorer last season, averaging 10.3 points per game on 50% shooting from the field. He made about 32% of his 3-point attempts.

“Playing in the NBA has always been a dream of mine and I feel that now is the right time to take a step to make my dream, a reality,” Bridges said in a statement when he originally declared for the draft. “I will continue to work hard and make the most of this opportunity, and I look forward to what the future holds.”
