Oklahoma’s Grant Sherfield, Tanner Groves join NBA teams for summer league, report says

Sherfield was a standout at North Crowley before he transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas in his senior year of high school.

While they weren’t selected in the 2023 NBA draft, two former Oklahoma players will reportedly get a chance to show off their skills on summer league rosters.

According to Eli Lederman of the Tulsa World, Grant Sherfield and Tanner Groves came to agreements with NBA teams Friday to continue their playing careers. Sherfield will be joining the Phoenix Suns, while Groves will suit up for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Sherfield, a former North Crowley standout, finished his collegiate career at Oklahoma after playing at Wichita State and Nevada. He was a SportsDayHS all-area first-team selection before he transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas in his senior year of high school. He led North Crowley to a 31-6 record during the 2017-18 season, averaging 24.1 points, 4.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds.
