SMU secures commitment from 2024 three-star OL prospect King Large

Large held offers from multiple Division I programs, including California, Colorado State and Oregon.

In a span of two days, the SMU football team has picked up some important offensive line pieces for its 2024 recruiting class.

The first domino was Graham Uter out of Bayside Academy in Daphne, Ala. On Monday, King Large from St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif. announced his commitment to Rhett Lashlee’s program. Large had an official visit with the Mustangs over the weekend.

Large (6-foot-4, 295) is rated among the top 100 offensive tackles in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports. He held offers from multiple Division I schools, including California, Colorado State and Oregon.

Large played a pivotal role in St. John Bosco’s 13-1 record during the 2022 season. The program defeated Junipero Serra High School by a 45-0 score to claim the CIF State Open Division championship.

St. John Bosco ended the year as the nation’s No. 1 high school football team, according to MaxPreps. The California-based school also came away with a 52-14 win over Allen in 2022.

Large is the Mustangs’ fourth commit from the 2024 class, joining Uter, South Oak Cliff’s Jamyri Cauley and Tyler Aronson of Vero Beach (Fla.).
