Texas Tech lands transfers from West Virginia’s Joe Toussaint, ASU’s Devan Cambridge

New head coach Grant McCasland has closed on three transfer commitments since his arrival in Lubbock.

Texas Tech basketball announced a pair of 3-star transfer signings Thursday in West Virginia point guard Joe Toussaint and Arizona State forward Devan Cambridge.

The two are Tech’s first transfer signings of the summer, with three transfers total since Grant McCasland took over as the program’s new head coach.

Toussaint is a 6-0 senior out of The Bronx who was the sixth-ranked prospect in the state of New York coming out of high school. He announced that he would be entering the transfer portal on Monday and announced his intent to transfer to Tech the following day.

He spent his first three collegiate seasons at Iowa before transferring to WVU for the 2022-23 season. In Toussaint’s first year in the Big 12, he averaged 9.4 points and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 37.4% from the field and 32.7% from deep.

Cambridge is a 6-6 senior small forward from Phoenix who played three seasons for Auburn before returning closer to home with the 2022-23 Sun Devils.

He’d originally committed to transfer to Oregon, but announced on Saturday that he’d be heading to Lubbock instead.

Cambridge averaged 9.6 points and 5.5 rebounds last season for ASU, shooting 50.4% from the field.

Texas Tech is ranked 33rd in the country on 247Sports’ list of 2023 basketball transfer portal ratings.
