The Barbie events will come as Gerwig’s film jostles with Christopher Nolan’s drama Oppenheimer for box office supremacy. Both films release July 21 and the juxtaposition of Barbie’s neon pink cheer and Oppenheimer’s apocalyptic seriousness has inspired a bevy of online memes. AMC recently released numbers indicating more than 20,000 film fans are opting for a “Barbenheimer” double feature.

Barbie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie, who is living out her perfect life in the pink-laden Barbie Land. She’s surrounded by other versions of herself and Ken (Ryan Gosling). Barbie’s adventure starts when she has an existential crisis. Ken tags along as they transition into the real world.
